Abu Dhabi has officially established the board for its new sovereign investment platform, L’IMAD Holding Company, as part of its efforts to enhance economic growth and diversify revenue sources. The announcement was made on January 12, 2026, by the Abu Dhabi Media Office.
L’IMAD is a significant player in the UAE’s investment landscape, having joined forces with other Gulf investors to back the high-profile $108 billion bid by Paramount-Skydance for Warner Bros Discovery in December. Alongside Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and the Qatar Investment Authority, L’IMAD is helping to shape the future of global media investments.
The platform’s board is chaired by Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with several key officials from Abu Dhabi’s government also sitting on the board. This marks the first public announcement of L’IMAD’s leadership structure, although details about the platform’s total assets under management remain undisclosed.
L’IMAD’s focus will be on managing a diverse portfolio of assets and projects in both the UAE and internationally. The platform will prioritize sectors such as infrastructure, real estate, financial services, and asset management. Recently, L’IMAD made headlines with the acquisition of an 84.76% stake in Modon Holding PSC, which was previously jointly owned by International Holding Company and Abu Dhabi Development Holding Company.
This move positions L’IMAD as one of Abu Dhabi’s key sovereign investment platforms, alongside the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), Mubadala Investment Company, and Abu Dhabi Development Holding Company (ADQ). These platforms play an essential role in securing and managing Abu Dhabi’s investments, both domestically and abroad.
L’IMAD’s formation further cements Abu Dhabi’s role as a global investment hub, with a clear mandate to focus on high-value sectors while contributing to the UAE’s long-term economic stability and diversification efforts.
